Role summary:

This role sits within a collaborative, fast paced remote product and customer experience team. The User Researcher will be conducting research and testing for future feature functionality, optimising existing products for both mobile and desktop as well as conducting extensive user discovery based research. Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct core competencies research goals and strategy, recruit research participants, write test scripts
  • Conduct online tests and use analytics tools to gain insight into onboarding rates, retention and engagement funnels
  • Conduct user testing using methodologies to quickly validate the effectiveness of a new product or feature
  • Define high level personas and workflows based on North America accounting and small business market
  • Share the research findings & insights with wider company stakeholders and communicate effectively the recommendations to improve user goals while aligning with business objectives
  • Identify new opportunities in improved process workflow and product
  • Monitor health and maturity of new & existing user cohorts

Required skills and experience:


We are seeking an experienced, curious User Research that will help shape the our growing product research agenda. Working closely with the Customer Experience Manager & User Research Manager, you will be the first specialist researcher in our North American Office. You will be required to work remotely from our Washington DC office in collaborating with the rest of the UX research team located in the London office. Keys skills / experience to be a success in the role are:

  • Formal qualification or degree related to user research; HCI, Cognitive Science, Psychology, anthropology, accounting or equivalent is a must.
  • Knowledge of the key research and testing methodologies for user discovery and product usability
  • Experience of conducting research using a wide range of methodologies (behavioural & attitudinal and qualitative & quantitative)
  • Ability to quickly turn around data into meaningful reports and stories that can be used to improve product, as well as recommendations to marketing & sales teams on users needs regarding interaction with product
  • Experience or Understanding of administrative and business financial functions for accountants, bookkeepers and small business users within the North American market would be highly advantageous
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time in the role both domestically and internationally
